Why this is harder than it should be.

Claude does not know what you have saved. You either paste links into the chat one by one, or accept that your bookmark library and your AI do not talk. Most people just give up and ask Claude to research the whole topic from scratch. Again.

How it works, in three steps.

  1. Install for Chrome (one click) Add the free ContextBolt extension. Sign in during onboarding with your email and the code we send you. You can also sign back in later under Settings, Account.
  2. Connect your Pro account In Settings, Account, save your license key once if Pro is not active yet. Let cloud sync finish. New agent connections use https://api.contextbolt.app/mcp with OAuth.
  3. Paste it into Claude Desktop, Cursor, or Code In Claude Desktop, add the shared URL through Settings, Connectors. In Claude Code or Cursor, add the remote MCP server and authenticate. Sign in with the same email as your Pro extension account, enter the email code, and approve access.

Common questions.

What is MCP and why does Claude need it?

Model Context Protocol is an open standard from Anthropic that lets AI assistants connect to external tools and data sources. Claude does not know what you have saved unless you tell it. An MCP server is the bridge. ContextBolt is an MCP server that exposes your bookmarks, so Claude can search them mid-conversation.

Which AI tools does the ContextBolt MCP endpoint work with?

Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, and Cline are all supported and tested. Any MCP client that supports HTTP transport works. We have setup guides for each at /integrations/.

Do I need coding experience to set this up?

No. Claude Desktop uses its Connectors settings. Claude Code and Cursor also support the shared remote URL. Finish the ContextBolt email-code sign-in and approval after adding it. The guide at /docs/connect-your-agent/ covers each client.

Is this free or do I need Pro?

The MCP endpoint is a Pro feature. Pro is $6 per month and includes unlimited bookmarks, cloud sync, and the personal MCP endpoint. The Chrome extension itself is free, with up to 150 bookmarks indexed on the free tier for local-only use.

Is my bookmark data safe?

The connection can search, retrieve, export, and save bookmarks, but cannot edit or delete existing saves. Disconnect OAuth from your AI app when no longer needed. A personal URL is a separate compatibility credential; keep it secret and rotate it in the extension if it leaks. Cloud sync is not end-to-end encrypted, so treat the synced copy as something we can read.

Can Claude write to my bookmarks, or only read?

It can now do both, in a limited way. As of the May 2026 update the endpoint exposes a save_bookmark tool, so Claude can add a new bookmark when you ask it to. It still can't edit or delete anything already in your library. That boundary is by design: Claude adding a save you point it at is helpful; Claude rewriting or wiping your library is not.
