Using it

Which agents does it work with?

Any MCP client. That includes Claude Code, Claude Desktop, claude.ai, Cursor, Codex, Windsurf and Cline. Setup steps for each are on Connect your agent.

Is there an app or dashboard?

Your agent is where you ask. It answers in the chat, and every successful lookup saves automatically to your SEO Dashboard, a private dashboard you sign in to with your account email. Browse, filter and bookmark it whenever you want the evidence back. You can run research from the dashboard too, on the same credits. Nothing to set up.

Do I need to know the tool names?

No. Ask in plain English and your agent picks the right tool. The MCP tools page is just a reference for what is available.

Data and accuracy

How accurate is the data?

It is Ahrefs-grade, decision-useful and directionally accurate. The volume, difficulty and authority figures are built to guide real decisions. They are not identical to any one other tool’s numbers, because every SEO tool estimates these differently. Use them to compare and prioritize, which is what they are good at.

Where does the data come from?

From a professional SEO data source, shaped into clean answers for your agent. You do not need your own data account or any API keys. It is all included in your plan.

Credits and plans

How do credits work?

Your plan includes 1,000 credits a month, which resets each billing cycle. Most tools cost 1 credit. Backlink tools cost 3, the quick AI-visibility checks cost 8, the full AI visibility report costs 50 plus 8 for each competitor you name, and site audits cost 1 per page. Your Search Console, the memory layer and credit checks are free.

What happens if I run out?

Nothing breaks. You get a friendly message with your reset date and a top-up link. Top-up packs never expire. You can also just wait for your monthly reset. See pricing for the numbers.

How do I check my balance?

Ask your agent “how many credits do I have left?” and it runs the free check_credits tool for your balance, top-up credits and reset date.

The site audit

What does the audit check?

On-page best practice. Titles, meta descriptions, headings and H1s, thin content, broken pages, canonicals, HTTPS and mixed content, image alt text and more. It gives each page a health score and a fix list, worst first.

How much does a site audit cost?

1 credit per page. A default 25-page audit is 25 credits. It only charges for pages that actually returned data, and it never audits new pages beyond the first set unless you ask.

Why did running the audit again show different things?

That is the fix-verify loop working. A repeat audit re-checks the pages already in your report and leads with what changed since last time, so you can see your fixes land. To audit brand-new pages instead, ask it to go deeper or audit the next batch.

Does it score my content quality?

Not on its own. The automated checks cover the mechanical and technical side reliably. Whether your content is genuinely good is a judgment your agent makes by reading what the report surfaces.

Troubleshooting

My agent cannot see the SEO tools

Work through these in order.

  • Use https://seo.contextbolt.app/mcp and complete OAuth with the email on your SEO trial or subscription. Enter the email code and approve the connection.
  • For a client without OAuth, use the full private personal URL from your welcome email. Existing personal connections still work.
  • Reconnect or start a fresh client session if the tools have not appeared.
  • Confirm your trial or subscription is active. Signing in does not start a new plan or restore an ended one.

Full setup steps are on Connect your agent.

My sign-in code did not arrive or expired

Use the email on your SEO subscription, check spam, and keep the ContextBolt sign-in page open. Codes expire after 10 minutes. Start a new sign-in if needed. If you hit the request limit, wait before trying again. An account needs an active trial or subscription to connect.

Do existing connections, credits or research change?

No migration is required. Your existing personal MCP URL, credits, research history and Google Search Console connection keep working. Old SEO Dashboard links open the sign-in page, then your dashboard. The new OAuth sign-in connects an AI app to that same account. Disconnecting the app does not cancel your subscription.

My Search Console will not connect

Make sure you complete the authorization prompt and that you are signed into the Google account that owns the property. The connection is read-only and uses no credits. You can disconnect and reconnect any time, and reconnecting keeps the site you chose.

My agent or dashboard is showing the wrong website

Switch it from the Website menu on the SEO overview of your SEO Dashboard, or tell your agent “switch to example.org”. Both change the same setting, so your agent and your dashboard stay on the same site, and switching costs no credits. The menu lists every verified site on the Google account you connected. If the site you want lives on a different Google account, choose “Use another Google account…” in that menu and sign in with it. That replaces your current connection.

An “audit my site” request ran the wrong tool

Ask plainly, like “audit my site” or “run a site audit.” If your agent has a lot of other instructions loaded, be explicit that you want the audit. Reconnecting the server can help if you recently changed clients, since MCP clients load server instructions on connect.
